Dental Implants for Root Canal Failure
If your root canal has failed, you may be an excellent candidate for dental implants. It is not uncommon for a patient to have a root canal that fails once or multiple times. In this case, it can be more effective and cost-efficient to just extract the tooth and replace it with a dental implant.
There are a number of common causes for endodontic failure. Patients have root canal failure do to the following:

- untreated canals

- operative errors (such as errors in placing posts)

A dental implant replaces the actual root of a missing tooth with precisely measured surgical-grade titanium alloy. The implant is placed into the jawbone either immediately after the extraction of a tooth, or after an extended period of time. If there is insufficient bone, various bone enhancing procedures can be performed prior to the implant placement. An abutment, which acts as a base for a prosthetic tooth replacement such as a crown, is either inserted into the implant at the time of implant placement, or after proper healing.
